Art grammar school is a type of grammar school which ends with the matura exam. The syllabus includes general and professional subjects. The number of lessons in general subjects decreases from the second year on, whereas at the same time the number of music/ dance related subjects and the number of lessons at these subjects increases.
GENERAL SUBJECTS
Geography is taught only in the first year, Biology and Physics in the first and second year. The second foreign language taught is Italian, as far as the first foreign language is concerned, the students can choose between English and German.
PROFESSIONAL SUBJECTS
The first year students are taught ear training, instrument, singing, history of music, piano, later on, composition, chamber music and a complementary instrument need to be studied as well.
The first year students of ballet have lessons of classical ballet, historical dances, later they take classes in repertoire, pas de deux, character dancing and contemporary dance techniques.
SYLLABUS
The subject complementary instrument comprises: cembalo for pianists, piccolo for flutists, English horn for oboists, different clarinet types for clarinetists, different types of saxophone for saxophone players and viola for viola players.
