Discovering Smetana

As an institution that educates young artists, who are capable of interpreting both domestic and foreign art, we have always given great emphasis to the international aspect. Despite the knowledge we offer, we cannot replicate the influence of the environment, which affects the authentic artistic expression.
Until now, we have organized collaborations ourselves, but this year we decided to raise the level, include the influence of the environment and ease the financial burden of parents.

Our main goal is to offer an authentic interpretation and understanding of Czech art. With this, we will raise the level of understanding of another culture and set an excellent base for upgrading knowledge in further education. There are topics that are difficult to address at home, so we welcome education abroad. Every young person who returns to their homeland brings with them new knowledge and understanding of another culture, which consequently raises the cultural level in our home country.

We expect an increase in understanding and the level of authentic performance of artistic works by Czech authors. In other words, “as the Czechs imagined it and not as we (Slovenians) think it should be”.
In the long run, we also expect a greater interest in Czech art and an awareness of the connections between the two nations. Both in the historical and artistic space.
